Azure Villanelle

despair is the first to melt away
and then boredom one manages to brush off
like night stars azure swept in new day

sunlight over all will hold his sway
and serenading blue birds trump raven’s scoff:
despair is the first to melt away

leaving dew to jewel the heart; love stay
here within my grasp, not again to run off
like night stars azure-swept in new day

be constant to me dear, as I play
the humble sotted paramour; and I’ll slough
despair—it’s the first to melt away

beneath the heated loving gaze—pray
you’ll dance this dance, my hat to you gladly doff
like night stars swept azure by new day

our new season, ceaseless but for time’s fray
constant battle of moments we dance to soft
despair   —   it’s the first to melt away
these night stars kept azure by new day.
