embrace it all, my guru tells me. life
is life and all things living connect, all
share in each others’ nature: embrace kinship,
she tells me — even in its diversity.
I look around me, and I see it is so,
and yet I see it seeming to be false —
through the lens of you, Liza, I see all
the connections, the disparities, these
grand degrees of separation melting
to form the great unity . . . and I feel,
Liza, I feel the universe explode
into life within my soul, and come to
believe we are the stardust, we are the cells
that make up God’s divine anatomy.
