rain is falling     is falling down          slow pour
thirsty grass   thirsty leaves   verdant springtime
gentle deluge and water standing in
low lawn spots     mud and clay soften under
songs of mocking birds and cardinals sweet
sheltered in the trees   glistening leaves     rain
drizzles tender as blessing from friendly sky
thunder mere memory     quiet moment
perfect for dancing like in old silver
screen classics full of crooners showcasing
velvet voices, limber limbs, and the vim
of times things were more certain     innocent
beyond the constant threats of nihilist
regimes     their days still filled with joie de vivre
