Her Words Escape

what was it she said this morning?     early,
just before first light,      between kisses she
whispered in my ear,   but my ears were filled
with birdsong and the rush of passion building.
her eyes so full of the sight of me as I
drank in her beauty,     face like an angel,
and our kisses   —   most lingering as though
time had stopped for us     perpetual bliss
inkling of nirvana;   others rushing
urgent as though the moment too soon past   —
I fell asleep in an afterglow haze,
her voice,   sweet nectar,   haunted my sleep all
hints of profound declarations to imply
futures full of deep waters and drenched nights.
